Regional Midwifery offers newborn care and lactation education classes in preparation for parenting. We are proud to work with patient educator Jan Tedder, NP, IBCLC, who is an expert in working with new families.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner and lactation consultant, I am delighted to have spent decades working with parents and their babies. Being a new mother or father is a big job! I know that today’s families want and seek information about how to understand their baby, how to manage common concerns around a baby’s sleeping and crying, and how to meet their breastfeeding goals. New parents will be VERY busy once baby comes and not be in the best position to Google every question they have. Research confirms that getting this basic information prenatally boosts parent’s confidence, enhances breastfeeding success, increases parent-child bonding and helps parents know when and how to seek help once baby is born.
I developed HUG Your Baby, an international parent education program, to prepare parents for life with a new baby. Durham Women’s Clinic makes these resources available in two classes, Breastfeeding 101 and Newborn Care 101. Click HERE to learn more about these classes.
We’ve had wonderful feedback from local families who have attended these classes. Click here to hear a family discuss their experience. Hope to see you soon!
